Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by heating the olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the skillet, ensuring they are spread out evenly.
  • Cook the chicken until golden brown on one side, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Flip the chicken and cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Cooking the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet.
  • Add the heavy cream and sour cream, stirring to combine.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, allowing it to simmer in the creamy sauce.
  • Stir in the cooked rice and shredded cheese until well combined.
  • Season the mixture with Italian seasoning.
  • Allow the dish to simmer for a few extra minutes.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Pat the chicken dry before seasoning. Ensure the skillet is hot for a good sear. Stir gently to prevent sticking. Taste the sauce before serving to adjust seasoning accordingly. Use cold ingredients at room temperature before adding them to the skillet.
